Citrus consumption on the rise in Eastern Europe

Over the past two seasons, citrus consumption has been slow to recover in Western Europe. However, in Eastern Europe, it is another story, with consumption rising steadily, from 9kg per person to 11.6 kg per person. In Western Europe, consumption has returned to around 14.5 kg per person, following a slight decline in recent years. There is a growing demand for lime, while grapefruit production is declining everywhere. Elsewhere, in Israel, many citrus plants are being replaced with far more profitable avocado plants.
