Dutch tomato production is falling due to the high cost of gas required to heat greenhouses in the Netherlands. EU forecasts for the winter tomato campaign in other Member States indicate an increase in production in Spain and maintaining of output in France.

The latest data on tomato prices provided by the European Commission, relating to last September, place the average community price at €1.43/kg. In France, the price stood at €2.33 /kg; in Italy, at €1.49/kg; in Spain, at €1.31/kg and in the Netherlands, at €0.99/kg.
