UNICA and Granada La Palma, SCA have signed an agreement for the joint marketing of Zucchiolo, a product of the biotechnology group Beyond Seeds. 50% of the income generated by sales of Zucchiolo will be allocated to the social purposes of the Cellbitec Foundation, focused on combatting two current challenges in the field of health: fighting cancer and degenerative diseases.
Through its Social Responsibility initiative, the Foundation has introduced a distinctive seal: the RFC Commitment (Cellbitec Foundation Responsibility). By choosing products with the RFC seal, consumers become direct allies in this mission.
Zucchiolo is a vegetable native to South America (known as Zapallito) and offers great versatility, since it can be consumed both raw and cooked. Although in South America, it is mainly grown outdoors, the over 5 years of breeding work by Beyond Seeds and IFAPA (Agrarian and Fisheries Research and Training Institute) has made it suitable for greenhouse cultivation in Mediterranean climates.
Zucchiolo comes in three colours with different flavours and textures: light green, dark green and yellow, the latter being a novelty in the world market.
UNICA, Granada La Palma and Beyond Seeds, through their Foundation, demonstrate a deep commitment, not only to innovation and science, but also to the promotion of social well-being and the vision of a healthier world, in this case, through Zucchiolo, a new product with high added value for the European market.
