Ecuador’s banana shipments rise in first 5 months of 2023

Ecuador’s banana exports from January to May were up by 2.43% year-on-year, from 158.92 million boxes in the first five months of 2022 to 162.78 million boxes this year, according to the latest data published by the AEBE. The European Union (30.89%), Russia (23.73%) and the Middle East (13.20%) received a combined total of 110.40 million boxes. Exports continue to fall to Eastern Europe (-46.34%), Europe EFTA (-19.42%) and Asia (-12.35%). The top three exporting brands are Dole (10.56% share), Global Village (5.82%) and Bonita (4.56%).
