Valencia-based supermarket chain Consum has renewed its commitment to the region’s citrus growers by pledging to sell only oranges and mandarins bearing the Cítricos Valencianos (Valencian Citrus) PGI from the end of November to the end of April, climate and supply permitting.

The retailer will buy a total of 5,500 tons of Valencia-grown Navelina, Navel and Navelate and Lane Late oranges and Clemenrubi, Oronules, Clemenules, Clemenvilla and Ortanique mandarins this season, 10% more than in 2020/21.

Last week, the quality seal once again took part in Valencia Breakfast Week, an initiative in which cafés, bars and restaurants in the Valencia province give out more than 10,000 free orange juices to promote the industry.
