Senegalese exports of fruit and vegetable produce totaled 106,200 tons in 2017, a jump of 16.7% compared to the 91,000 tons shipped the previous year. This confirms the dynamic picture seen in the country’s horticultural sector in recent years with exports increasing from 8,900 tons in 2010 to over 29,000 tons in 2014. Another key point is the conformity of shipments with the sanitary requirements imposed in destination markets. Indeed, around 99.5% of shipments of horticultural products received the approval of importers, although the mango sector still faces challenges related to fruit flies. The major export products include green beans, cherry tomatoes, melons and sweet corn. The principal export markets for Senegalese goods are Europe and North America.
