The Fragaria strawberry, launched by Fruits Ràfols four years ago, has won the prestigious 2022 Flavour of the Year Award for the second consecutive year and with the highest score. This recognition comes through a “blind tasting” carried out in an independent sensory analysis laboratory. Fragaria obtained a 9.11 overall satisfaction score this year (9.02 in 2021) after evaluating its taste, appearance, smell and texture.
“We are proud and happy because the award shows that consumers choose Fragaria because we are doing a good job together, from the farmer to the workers, carriers or merchants, because this is an achievement of the entire chain,” said Helena Ràfols, human resource manager.
Fruits Ràfols, a distributor of selected fruits since 1988, created the Fragaria brand in 2018 with the aim of offering consumers a high-quality, large-sized strawberry, natural red in colour, with a consistent texture and an extraordinary flavour. A very careful strawberry throughout its process, from the field to the consumer’s table.
Although production is very limited, given the size and maximum control of the product, Fruits Ràfols expects this year to increase sales by 20%, reaching 250,000 kg, in this campaign that began in December and will end in May. Fragaria is distributed throughout Spain and exported to some countries such as France, Italy and Bulgaria.
