Carrefour to acquire 47 SuperCor stores from El Corte Inglés

Carrefour is to purchase 47 SuperCor stores in Spain from El Corte Inglés in a deal worth €60 million. The transaction includes supermarkets and convenience stores located in strategic areas such as Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia and Valencia. The group plans to convert the acquired stores to the Carrefour Market, Carrefour Express and Supeco brands and confirms the company’s commitment to expansion into the supermarket format.

“The transformed stores will significantly benefit from the strong brand value, commercial policy, products under the Carrefour brand and Carrefour’s purchasing conditions,” the company said in a statement.

Carrefour already has recent successful experiences in operations of these characteristics, such as the incorporation of 36 Eroski hypermarkets to the park or the recent integration of 127 Supersol stores in 2020. The French distributor will thus consolidate its position in Spain by further diversifying its network of stores and geographic areas, in line with your strategy.

Carrefour Spain now has over 1,500 stores in Spain. The transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close before the end of the first half of 2024.
