Primafrio Group, the international logistics operator, leader in Europe in road transport of horticultural products at controlled temperatures, has launched a logistics centre in Madrid on a plot of 42,157 square metres, with 18,900 square metres dedicated to logistics at controlled temperature. The facility also features 24 loading and unloading docks for merchandise and a parking area with the capacity to park 100 trucks.

This new base, located in the LPG development, G-Park Pinto, south of Madrid, near the accesses to the main highways and radial ring roads – A-42, A-4, R-4, M-506 and M -50 -, allows the Murcian company to optimise its national distribution operations from the central area of the peninsula, as well as respond effectively and efficiently to the current demands of its customers.

This modern logistics cente contributes to enhancing the logistics capacity of Grupo Primafrio by streamlining the transit of goods and promoting cross-docking operations from Madrid to any destination in Spain.

José Esteban Conesa, general director of Grupo Primafrio, said: “In the process of expanding our logistics network we have chosen to position ourselves in Madrid, since its strategic location has become an important logistics node. With this new headquarters, there are six bases in which we operate in the Iberian Peninsula, currently adding 40,000 square metres of refrigerated infrastructure.”

Generating new jobs, efficiency and well-being

The new logistics centre, supplied by GLP, the leading promoter of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, incorporates 30 new professionals, a workforce that will increase in the coming months. Like the rest of Primafrio’s centres, these facilities comply with the highest environmental standards that guide the company’s activity, generating reduced energy consumption and minimising emissions.

The new centre will have charging points for the fleet’s new 100% electric tractor and trailer sets and has an office building with a surface area of more than 1,000 square meters. Likewise, it includes spaces dedicated to the well-being of all employees and drivers, with a dining room, changing rooms with showers and bathroom.
