Featuring the company’s cutting-edge “Mission Control” ripening room technology, the facility is designed to serve both retail and foodservice customers in the UK with custom ripe avocado and mango programs.

“Mission Produce UK is leveraging the company’s vertical integration, production and logistics capabilities, as well as retail expertise, to deliver high-quality fruit to our UK customer base,” said Luke Stockdale, Sales Director, Mission Produce UK.

Mission’s new distribution center of 102,000-square-feet is strategically located near the UK’s largest ports and airports and at the intersection of England’s extensive transportation networks, with direct access to the M25. The building is sustainability-focused and certified by an internationally accepted sustainability standard with a BREEAM “excellent” rating for its efficient use of resources, including its incorporation of solar panels and rainwater harvesting.

Mission Produce continues to expand its global footprint across emerging markets and sourcing regions. Once the UK facility opens, Mission’s network will include 13 FDCs located across the United States, Mexico, Canada, China and Europe. Mission plans to source production for the UK market from South Africa, Peru, Colombia and Guatemala. The company also sources from California, Mexico, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Kenya.
