China’s stone fruit crop makes strong comeback

China’s cherry production is forecast to increase by 12 percent to 760,000 tons in the 2023/24 campaign thanks to a rebound of production in Shandong, Sichuan, and Liaoning provinces, according to a USDA report. Cherry imports are also expected to increase, driven by strong offseason demand and improved supplies in Chile and the United States. Peach/nectarine production is forecast to increase by 3 percent to 17.5 million tons in MY 2023/24.
