Australia set for record grape harvest

Mon 20/11/2023 by Richard Wilkinson

Australia’s table grape production in 2023/24 is expected to increase to a record 220,000 tons from an estimated 210,000 tons in 2022/23. According to a recent USDA report, this growth is mainly a result of excellent seasonal conditions so far and the anticipation of continued favourable seasonal conditions through to the end of harvest. These conditions are also expected to produce high-quality table grapes in the forecast year and increase the supply of products suitable for the export market. The boost in production and quality is forecast to result in the third-highest export result on record of 140,000 for 2023/24. The forecast record production is expected to support a 5% rise in consumption for 2023/24.
