Ukrainian agricultural exports grow by almost a quarter in first two months of the year

Ukraine’s agricultural export market was worth a record USD 18.8 billion in 2018 and this growth trend has continued into the current year.

Agrarian Ministry officials have reported a 24.4% year-on-year increase in agricultural exports during January-February 2019, representing a new total for the two-month period of USD 3.5 billion.

The geographical focus of this booming export trade fell predominantly on Asian and European markets, with Africa in third place and CIS countries now relegated to a distant fourth. Ukraine’s top destination was India, which accounted for 9.6% of all Ukrainian agricultural exports. Next came Turkey (7.8%), the Netherlands (7.4%), Spain (6.7%), China (5.8%), Italy (3.8%), Poland (3.3%), Germany and Belarus (2.9%).
