The UK’s largest organic on-farm conference, OF&G National Organic Combinable Crops (NOCC), is taking place virtually this year, with a series of interactive seminars and online farm tours led by experts in UK food and farming. They are free to join and open to all. V-NOCC is hosted by the largest certifier of UK organic land, OF&G (Organic Farmers & Growers), with the AHDB and Agricology supporting the digital programme with a series of webinars streaming live on 9th June, 7th July and 14th July.

FiBL workshop "Boosting the organic sector by integrating breeding into value chain partnerships" focused yesterday morning (13/02/2020) on how to foster and finance the breeding and the selection of organic varieties. It was organised with the collaboration of Eurofresh Distribution magazine, OPTA, Cotton Accelerator and Econatura.

Still less than 30% of organic crops come from organic seed & plants in Europe (less than 10% worldwide). Major changes shall happen by 2036 to fulfill with the new EU regulation.

Promotional campaign "Strength of taste, vitamins and colors. Meet the quality of Apples from Europe" is gaining its momentum. This is due, among others, to the WOP Dubai (World of Perishables), which was attended by representatives of the Association of Polish fruit and vegetable distributors 'Unia Owocowa' and the Union of Polish fruit growers. The event took place from the 12th to the 14th November at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Unexpected huge interest in organic grape cultivation in South Africa

South Africa has approximately 650 table grape producers, almost all of which are conventional growers. More than 150 of them, or 20%, attended a conference on May 10th on the opportunities for organic grape cultivation in South Africa. The conference, held in Stellenbosch, was organized by Eosta, a leading European importer and distributor of organic fruit and vegetables. ‘With conventional cultivation you are increasingly running into problems,’ said grape grower Easton Marsh from Lushof. ‘Annual droughts are becoming extreme, and public resistance to pesticides is growing.
