Canavese is a leading group in the fresh fruit and vegetables sector in France. The group has ten regional offices, production sites in Africa, Morocco and France, three ripening facilities and a workforce of 450 people in France. With a view to expansion, the group is currently seeking its new partnership in Italy. The plan is to import and distribute 30,000 tons of Italian products in the year 2020. Mediterranean import sector manager Valerie Raymond explains: “By the end of 2017 we expect to be importing kiwis, tomato, apples and grapes, among others. The aim is to trade them in France and overseas. At the same time, we are now creating the new trademark to position these products.” The Canavese group has its own banana brand – Kini – cultivated in the Ivory Coast, where the company has 1900 ha and production volume of 60,000 tons of green banana. The company also has 400 hectares of pineapple crops, producing a total of 4,000 tons. Alongside this, the company has farms in Ghana growing fair trade and organic bananas, which results in roughly 15,000 tons per year. Additionally, the company has 650 ha of citrus production in two of Morocco’s emblematic production areas: Berkane, where you can find clementines and Souss, the main production area for Nour clementines and Valencia oranges. The company achieves an annual turnover of 20,000 tons from these plantations. The Canavese Group trades all its produce and imports products mainly to France, although the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and other European countries also share in its distribution.
