FEDEXPOR holds successful 1st virtual “Ecuador Food Fair”

The fair allowed Ecuadorian exporters showcase their products and establish new business opportunities. It involved minimum investment compared to face-to-face events of an international nature.

Organised by FEDEXPOR, the international fair exceeded expectations and made this new virtual way of doing business a reality. The event showed off Ecuador and its products to the world, where its production and logistics chain is 100% active to respond to international demand.

In its twelfth year, Fruit Attraction 2020 will incorporate new elements into its format with the aim of serving as a fulcrum to promote the reconstruction of international trade relations within the fruit and vegetable sector. It takes place in October, which is the key time for the sector. The confidence of the sector as a whole, and the support of the international Fruit Attraction community to speed up the recovery, has allowed the fair to have recorded an increase of 5% in registrations for participation, compared to the same dates last year.

Following the successful closure of the first digital edition of United Fresh, the organisers drew some positive conclusions for what was a memorable event. More than 12,500 attended the event, with more than 7,500 online at any one time. Over 1,000 joined the general sessions, while the workshops, coffee talk roundtables, networking receptions and morning fitness classes reached thousands more.

Following the formal adoption of the organisation’s Statutes in March 2020, the WCO Secretariat just collected and released the first crop production and export forecasts for the forthcoming Southern Hemisphere citrus season 2020. The preliminary forecast is collected from industry associations in Argentina, Australia, Chile, Peru, South Africa, and Uruguay. The Secretariat is working closely with Brazil and Bolivia to include their data as well into the forecast very shortly.
