Port of Algeciras (Spain) took part in III International import/export Fair

Port of Algeciras, Spain (APBA) took part in III International import/export Fair (CIIE 2020) in Shanghai (China). The Fair was attended by local agents cooperating with APBA in Asian trade missions as well as by the staff in charge of the Exterior Promotion of Andalucía region.

The delegation representatives of Ningbo-Zhou Shan Port led by Chen Goupan, vice-president of internal relations, payed visit to the Algeciras stand. APBA has been cooperating closely with that Asian port since 2018, when a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in both Ports. Ningbo is not only a strategical partner; it became the first Chinese partner port for containers parting from Algeciras, and since then, shipping lines of 2M and Ocean Alliance Groups connect Spain and China.

New Shanghai trade show for China’s fresh produce


Inaugural China Fruit Logistica attracted over 2,000 professionals to Shanghai.

The first China Fruit Logistica (China FL) was held on May 14-16, bringing together almost 100 exhibitors, the majority of whom came from 12 different provinces across China to showcase their products and services. A wide range of global products and solutions were also on display, with 18 different exhibiting countries taking part representing five continents. China FL created a new premium professional trade platform on a national scale for China’s fresh produce business. It took place at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing, drawing over 2,000 local and foreign visitors. Top-quality buyers, trade visitors and industry professionals from 25 provinces across China as well as international visitors from over 30 different countries travelled to Shanghai to take part in this first edition. China FL is organised by Global Produce Events (Shanghai), sponsored by China Good Agri-products Development & Service Association (CGAPA) and co-organised by Valuedshow (Shanghai) Management LLC.. CGAPA comes under the authority of China’s Ministry of Agriculture, and focuses on modernising the agriculture sector and upgrading quality standards for domestic producers and suppliers.

High-level programme

A three-track programme was offered in China FL to provide visitors with a high-quality mix of strategic insights and practical information, including a Main Stage, Expert Stage and Media Studio.  The Main Stage, China’s leading fresh produce conference event and forum, featured keynote presentations and panel discussions on hot topics and trends in China’s fresh produce business. At the Expert Stage, visitors could meet industry experts from around the world, and get practical insights regarding the best products, systems and solutions for their business. The Media Studio featured live interviews with key industry figures covering the latest trends and innovations.

Hainan Tiandiren Ecological Agriculture, best tropical fruit

Banana and pineapple are Tiandiren’s two most popular, premium-quality and widely grown fruits.  Founded in 2001, Tiandiren has been specialising in the tropical fruit industry for almost 20 years, with a planting base of over 10,000 ha. It has also developed leading varieties of other tropical fruits including pitaya, pomelo and avocado. The 11th edition of iFresh Fair Asia will be held in Shaghai in November


iFresh Fair Asia will take place this year between 13th and 15th November at the Shanghai New International Exposition Centre. The fair will bring together domestic and overseas traders from over 50 countries, including Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Ecuador, and Peru. There will be exhibits of high-quality fruit products and innovative technologies on display at the prestigious event centre. The Shanghai New International Exposition Centre (SNIEC) is one of China’s most successful international exposition venues. SNIEC has 17 single-layer open floor halls and hosts more than 100 major expositions every year, attracting more than 5 million traders from China and abroad.

New Mac Fruit Attraction China takes place in Shanghai November 22-24

After the success of Mac Fruit Attraction Mena, a new meeting will take place in Shanghai, in the framework of the HORTI CHINA trade fair in November of this year

Madrid, 24 March 2017. Mac Fruit Attraction China has been created though an alliance of IFEMA and Cesena Fiera with VNU Exhibitions Asia. The event will take place in the framework of Horti China, a fruit and vegetable trade show to be held from 22 to 24 November 2017 at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing.

Organised by IFEMA and CESENA FIERA, two trade fair operators from the main fruit and vegetable producers and exporters, Spain and Italy, Mac Fruit Attraction CHINA will be a meeting point for Asian operators and the international fruit and vegetable trade. China has been identified as one of today’s strategic markets for its potential for development, which will make this new platform a commercial opportunity where participating companies can form alliances with the Chinese market. 

European Union exports to China in 2015 totalled 22,768 tons, with a value of 36.3 million euros.  Apples and pears were the main products exported, totalling 5,399 tons, with a value of 6,211 million euros, followed by citrus fruits, with 4,278 tons and a value of 4,220 million euros.  Within the EU, Italy, France and Spain are the main exporters to China. Spain was also the first country in the world to be authorised to export peaches to China in July 2016. Spanish plum, peach and nectarine exports to China in 2016 came to 815 tons and were worth 1.32 million euros. Last year, according to the data for the period until November, EU exports to China reached 31,298 tons with a value of 45.6 million euros.

Mac Fruit Attraction CHINA will take place in the framework of Horti China, a VNU Exhibition Asia event with four sections: Horti Seed, aimed at the seed industry; Horti Tech, which focuses on applied technology in production; IFresh, featuring the Chinese fruit and vegetable industry, and Mac Fruit Attraction CHINA, a trade show for international fruit and vegetable exhibitors.  

Driven by the success of Mac Fruit Attraction MENA, which will be held for the second time from 22 to 24 April in Cairo, this will be an important step forward in IFEMA’s international strategy with Cesena Fiera, with what has become an established platform for internationalization in the fruit and vegetable sectors in their respective countries.

‘Better than ever’ trade deals done at FHC China

The 20th edition of the FHC China exhibition for imported food and beverages and the 4th edition of ProWine China for wine and spirits ended Wednesday November 9 with reports of significant business conducted by participating companies.

The 20th edition of the FHC China exhibition for imported food and beverages and the 4th edition of ProWine China for wine and spirits ended Wednesday November 9 with reports of significant business conducted by participating companies.

Both exhibitions took place at SNIEC, Shanghai New International Expo Centre, in the Pudong district, and together spanned 2,350 participating companies from 66 countries and regions.

In a press release, Brendan Jennings, general manager of China International Exhibitions Ltd., said the show organiser was delighted with the results. “Not just the increase in exhibitors but also the larger number of buyers that attended from all over the country,” he said.

This annual event represents the largest gathering of imported food and wine suppliers in the country and the exhibitors at both shows confirmed that the amount of business done over the three-day event was better than ever.

“I have run this show for the last 20 years in Shanghai and it is very evident that the quality and professionalism of the buyers attending gets better every year. We put a great deal of effort to ensure the right buyers come to FHC and ProWine China and we have been rewarded this year with record results,” Jennings said.

Impressive international contingents

A total of 72,246 trade visitors attended FHC and ProWine, representing a 9% increase over last year.

About two in every five visitors came from Chinese cities outside of Shanghai and a further 9% from overseas.

Further underlining the event’s international reach was the fact that there were 40 national and regional pavilions this year and that the agriculture ministers from Austria, Canada and Northern Ireland were among the dignitaries at the opening ceremony, while Malaysia’s minister for trade and industry attended on day 2 to support the 35 Malaysian companies exhibiting, the largest ever pavilion of Malaysian companies at FHC.

FHC and ProWine China combines traditional exhibition stands where participants can display product and meet with trade customers, together with numerous seminars, conferences, competitions and training events, all designed to give even more reason to visit the exhibition.

New features this year were Fresh Produce China and Dairy China, representing the fastest growing sectors of the food and beverage economy in China.

The largest event within the exhibition this year was the 18th edition of the FHC Culinary Arts Competition, which attracted a record 1,000 chefs who competed across a total of 23 different product categories.

Chile’s fruit exporters’ association ASOEX participated in FHC China 2016, where it promoting the rich flavors and high quality of Chile’s fresh produce. It also sponsored chefs who used Chilean produce in the FHC Culinary Arts and Pastry and Bakery Competition, to great success.

“This fair (FHC) has proven to be a unique and ideal platform to promote our avocados and blueberries in the HORECA channel in China. The FHC has a massive attendance of representatives of restaurants, chefs, casinos, and hotel purchasing managers, among other key players in the Food Service industry. Our salad with blueberries and our pasta with avocado won first prize in each category,” said Christian Carvajal, Asoex marketing director for Asia and Europe.

Chilean Hass Avocado Committee general manager Juan Enrique Lazo was delighted with the triumph of the pasta dish presented that was made with Chilean Hass avocado sauce.

Cesar Suarez, director of the ProChile’s commercial office in Shanghai, highlighted the joint efforts of the public and private sectors in the successful promotional activities for Chilean fruit in China. He also highlighted the growth of national exports and the importance that Chile had in the Chinese market, where it is seen as a reliable supplier of quality fruit.

FHC 2017: November 14-16 in Shanghai

Building on the success of companies this year, Fresh Produce China will form a dedicated zone of fruit and vegetable companies located in one hall when FHC returns to Shanghai from 14-16 November in 2017.

Chile, Egypt, Thailand, Taiwan, the US and Spain are the countries which have already registered their interest in dedicated pavilions at Fresh Produce China 2017.

Regular shipments to China of Peru’s Hass avocados

Since mid-June a large batch of Peruvian Hass avocados has entered China under the Disney brand, after the inauguration of the modern theme park in Shanghai.

China has shown significant growth in the consumption of avocados, with a 160% increase in consumption over the last two years. In 2015 avocado imports totaled 15,000 tons. Right now, Mexico is the main supplying country but, recently, also the Peruvian Hass avocados obtained the authorization to access the Chinese market at the end of the 2015 season, and regular shipments to that market have started in April of this year 2016. Peru will compete in this interesting market with four fundamental strengths: a good number of professional and experienced exporters, good product quality, excellent period of arrivals and tariff benefits under the free trade agreement with China.

So far during this season, Peru has already shipped the first group containers of Hass avocados to China. Shipments are supposed to continue until end July. Although the main markets are in the big cities, such as Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing, recently there has been a growing demand in inland cities like Hangzhou, Nanjing and Chongqing.

Since mid-June a large batch of Peruvian Hass avocados has entered China under the Disney brand, after the inauguration of the modern theme park in Shanghai. The Peruvian avocados are brought to the market thanks to Camposol and Intercorp. The sales of Peruvian avocados for Disney will be implemented through an authorised importer in Shanghai. The Disney Resort was opened in week 24 with high expectations. The avocados from Peru will be sold onsite in the theme park and in top high-end supermarkets, such as Super City, Ole and RT Mart. The Disney-branded avocados will also be available via specialist fresh fruit stores and online platforms. The Chinese market looks interesting for Hass avocados from Peru, because more and more consumers are seeking fruit and healthy products.
