“We are working with organic farming professionals to create a truly dynamic sector,” enthuses the president of AMABIO, the Moroccan organic producers’ association.
However, he believes development of Moroccan organic farming is still complicated, due to several constraints: cost, certification, labour and market access.
“We are committed to a state contract to develop the sector by 2020, with a budget of 1.2 million dirhams to do so.”
Morocco’s organic crops cover 8,000 ha, of which 800 ha are olive orchards and 1,200 citrus.
