Russian students design innovative devices for horticulture
Russian State Agrarian University designed an innovative device for sustainable agriculture. It is a hydroponic installation for growing vegetables with the water from aquariums. The water contains organic fertilisers and microelements, so the vegetables will be very healthy. The device was shown this April in the framework of Moscow international fair of education.

Dutch greenhouses at the forefront of geothermal technology
Twelve greenhouse farms in the Netherlands are already using geothermal energy to heat their greenhouses, with a further four set to implement the technology. With their high light transmittance and higher insulation value, the greenhouses require far less heating energy than that required by conventional structures. The results obtained by early adopters, such as Ter Laak’s sustainable greenhouse in Kasalsenergiebron, are reported to be extremely positive.
