The next General Assembly of FruitvegetablesEUROPE (formerly EUCOFEL) will be held on 14th & 15th March 2019 in Warsaw, Poland. Titled, “CULTIVATING THE TASTE OF EUROPE”, the event will be held and co-organised by HOTEL NOVOTEL. Day 1 will involve a tour of the Grojec-Warka region, followed by a field visit across the biggest orchard in Europe. This will include tours of apple orchards, greenhouse tomatoes and fruit warehouses. The day will conclude with a traditional Polish dinner. The second day will commence with the Annual General Assembly for members only.
Macfrut on tour, Africa in the spotlight and new missions planned

This year, once again, Macfrut promotes itself abroad. Following the success of the last editions of the trade fair, achieved by launching a dedicated global promotional campaign, this year’s edition of Macfrut - to be held from 8 to 10 May 2019 at the Rimini Expo Centre - will be preceded by a series of high-profile presentations for the public and potential exhibitors, which will take place in many countries around the world.
MedFEL takes place from 24 to 26 April 2019 in Perpignan
Organised by the Occitania / Pyrenees-Mediterranean Region and the AD'OCC regional economic development agency, medFEL will be held from 24 to 26 April 2019 at the Perpignan Exhibition Centre. The international business event for the fruit and vegetable sector will focus this year on super fruits: persimmon, pomegranates, kiwis and blueberries.
Red and yellow, the colours of Macfrut 2019
The exhibition halls of the Rimini Expo Centre will be refurbished to host the 36th edition of Macfrut, to be held from 8 to 10 May 2019: the exhibition centre will sport the colours of next year’s two key fruits, namely red as the “Cuneo Red Apple PGI” and yellow as pineapple. Apples - the specialty product of Piedmont, the Partner Region of Macfrut 2019 - will be the stars of the event, whereas pineapples will be the main theme of the second edition of the international Tropical Fruit Congress on exotic fruit.
US$ 100 million worth of business generated at Taiwan Agriculture Week 2018
The Taiwan Agriculture Week 2018, organised by My Exhibition, was a resounding success. The event attracted 166 exhibitors from over 13 countries. With over 270 booths, the total exhibition area covered 6,000 meters squared. The three-day expo attracted 6,500 visitors, including 450 professional buyers from 25 countries.
The Three Days of Early Pepper in Almeria brings together 2,000 farmers
The town of Dalías (Almería) celebrated the Three Days of Early Pepper between 21-23 November, with an attendance of 600 farmers on each day of the event. The event is one of a kind in Spanish farming and featured the attendance of professionals from various cities. What makes Dalías special is that it has about 13,000 hectares of early pepper produced during the dry season, one or two months earlier than in other places. Guatemala prepares for the AGRITRADE Expo & Conference international convention that the AGRITRADE Platform will hold on March 21, 22 and 23, 2019 in Santo Domingo del Cerro in Antigua, Guatemala. The 2019 edition seeks to generate agricultural business with 150 international buyers, including for the first time the visit of buyers from Japan. The organisers of this regional agricultural convention project business for US$65 million in the short and medium term.

Spanish shoppers spend five million euros a day on organic food
According to new figures from the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, organic food sales hit record levels in 2017 reaching 1,962 million euros (up 16.4% on 2016 and almost double the 1,000 million quoted in 2013).
Speaking at BioCultura Madrid earlier this month, Francisco Javier Maté, deputy general director for differentiated quality and organic agriculture at MAPA, revealed that Spanish shoppers are increasingly opting for organic and are now spending over five million euros a day on organic food and drink.
