China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan container port is still partially closed, triggering growing concerns over long-term trade disruptions in the region. A report by Bloomberg News stated that the port hasn’t published any updates on its operations since Wednesday 11 August, when it halted all inbound and outbound container services at its Meishan terminal after one employee tested positive for Covid-19.

The closed terminal is reported to account for about 25% of container cargo passing through the port, leading to ships being redirected to other terminals, which have adjusted their operating hours to cope with the additional traffic. Maersk has said that it will omit Ningbo this month on services between Asia and South America.
