Spain Retail Congress 2022 to analyse future trends in sector

The fifth edition of the Spain Retail Congress will be held on September 27 in Seville under the slogan “Let’s make it possible!” Organised by the Spanish Confederation of Commerce and the Junta de Andalucía in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, the benchmark annual meeting will bring together institutional, business and trade professional leaders to create a forum for knowledge that will allow sharing experiences and success stories and discussing the transformation needs of the sector through digitization, sustainability, innovation and people.

The event will be opened by president of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, and closed by Xiana Méndez, Secretary of State for Trade. Throughout the morning there will be several discussion tables. The first of them will provide the opportunity to listen to outstanding success stories of local businesses and will include the participation of Ignacio Gaspar, General Director of Toy Planet, Milagros Cabral, businesswoman and creator of Mariquita Trasquilá and Juan Foronda, owner of the historic Juan Foronda establishment in Seville.

A second round table discussion will take place, “Commerce in women”, in which women who have overcome barriers and leaders in the sector such as María Sánchez, General Director of CEDECARNE, Cristina Menéndez, General Director of CECOFERSA and Rosa Navarro, Manager of CODECO-MILAR, will share their reflections and experiences with those attending the congress.

To end the morning session, SRC22 will address the challenges of commerce in emptied Spain by Carlos Mor Sanz, a businessman from Teruel dedicated to commerce and services, and Susana Pesador, a merchant in a small municipality in Soria.

The afternoon session will feature a central presentation entitled “Commerce X.0” and in which Juan Luis Moreno, director of innovation at The Valley, an ecosystem specializing in the digital transformation of professionals and companies through training, attracting talent and innovation will expose the main trends of the future of commerce that are already a reality today.

Before the closing of the conference, the awards of the 1st Edition of the CEC 2022 Awards will also be presented, which promote the social recognition of the figure of the merchant and will reward professionals in the sector who have stood out in the categories of commerce of the rural area, urban area commerce, technological innovation; historical trade, energy efficiency and sustainability and trade of the year.
