Slump in Peru mango exports so far this season

The Ecuadorian mango season, which began in the last week of September and will run until mid January, is expected to see around 14.1 million boxes produced. The country’s main varieties are Tommy Atkins (65%), Ataulfo (15%), Kent (12%), Keitt (3%) and Other (5%). In the week ending 16.12.17, export volumes had reached approximately 1,088,224 boxes (a total of 11,191,880 boxes for the season). This is significantly higher than during the same week last year (765,600 boxes), but the season total at this point was higher (11,862,166 boxes).

Peru’s season, which began in November and will run until the last week of March, is expected to see approximately 15.3 million boxes produced. The country’s main varieties are Kent (97%) and Other (3%). In the week ending 16.12.17, export volumes were around 398,666 boxes (a total of 663,999 boxes for the season). During the same week last year, volumes were far higher – around 1,292,210 boxes for a total of 3,139,176 boxes.
