Kenya to host 1st national mango conference in Makueni

In a speech, local mayor, Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, said: “The first Mango Conference in Kenya, bringing all mango producers, sellers, investors, and all the value chains, would be held here in Makueni in May this year.” 

The conference, which will draw investors, would give the county an opportunity to display and offer its fruit in both domestic and foreign markets. Makueni is Kenya’s top mango-producing region and now has an eye on exporting to international markets to ensure its farmers earn good prices. Mangoes are grown and sold through cooperatives, while some inhabitants also sell their produce directly to vendors.
