Fruit & veg inflation falls in US

While overall inflation in the US fall by 0.1% in December, thanks to a significant drop in petrol prices, food inflation continues to rise, according to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The food index increased by 0.3% in December following a 0.5% increase in November. The food at home index rose 0.2% in December. Three of the six major grocery store food group indexes increased over the month.

While the prices of meats, poultry, fish, and eggs increased 1.0% in December, the prices of fruits and vegetables index fell by 0.6% over the month with the fresh fruit index declining 1.9%.
