China’s vegetable exports up 9.2% in 2022

China saw steady growth in its vegetable exports in 2022, with volumes up 6.5% compared to 2021, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Around 11.83 million tons of vegetables were exported last year, worth US$17.22bn, up 9.2% percent year on year.

However, vegetable imports were down 19% in value from 2021 to US$960 million. The total import volume was 337,000 tons of vegetables. The country’s vegetable trade surplus stood at 16.26 billion dollars in 2022, up 11.5% year on year.
