Chile recovers grape volumes

Thu 18/11/2021 by Richard Wilkinson

Chile’s 2021/22 grape crop is set to rebound after a rain-damaged 2020/21 season. FAS Santiago projects that table grape production will increase by 22% to 805,000 tons, and exports are expected to rise by 22.9% to 645,000 tons. Meanwhile, since planted area is projected to remain unchanged, apple production and exports should remain flat in 2021/22, totalling just over 1 million tons and 637,000 tons, respectively. Pear production is estimated at 217,000 tons (-6.9%), with exports at 112,000 MT (-6.7%) due to shrinking acreage.
