Greenfood Iberica, certifies for healthier and tastier products

Certified processes and healthier products: these are the novelties announced by fresh fruit and vegetable supplier Greenfood Iberica at the Fruit Attraction fair in Madrid. Speaking at the firm’s stand, managing director Jussi Alitalo said,

“We are currently working on obtaining several kinds of certifications. All our farmers are Global G.A.P. and BRC certified, but we have also obtained IFS Broker certification within our company to guarantee product safety, BRC Chain of Custody and BCSI to ensure Corporate Social Responsibility. Next year, we’ll apply for Carbon Footprint certification, too. This underlines our commitment to tastier and healthier products that respect people and the environment.” All of Greenfood Iberica’s products are fresh from the field. Once customers place an order, the firm’s growers harvest the produce to ensure maximum shelf life, while the company’s quality controllers guarantee that the produce conforms exactly to the required quality specifications.

Founded ten years ago as part of the SP Greenfood Group, Greenfood Iberica is a full service provider, supplying over 300 Spanish fresh fruit and vegetable products to northern European countries. The firm’s largest markets are Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany and the UK.

“While our main products are lettuce and brassicas from Murcia, we are also strong in citrus from Valencia and greenhouse crops from Almeria. However, increasingly more, we are working with speciality categories, such as organics, speciality tomatoes, herbs and exotics,” said Alitalo.

Greenfood Iberica supplies daily pallets under a single brand, seven days of the week to wholesalers, catering firms, fresh cuts producers and retailers, sending 45 million kg of products a year in 3,000 trucks.
